For Creative Dinners on the Fly: Plated

For Creative Dinners on the Fly-For the past year or so, we’ve been getting occasional deliveries from Plated, a service that sends all of the ingredients you need to execute a fast, tasty recipe (minus pantry staples like salt, pepper, and olive oil). It’s great to not have to go to the grocery store, worry about what to cook, or search for a list of ingredients. I also like that the portion sizes are controlled, so I don’t eat more than one adult human should in a dinner.

The recipes on offer each week run the gamut, including options for fish, chicken, beef, pork, and vegetarian items, and representing a range of world cuisines. Most of the recipes I’ve chosen to buy are recipes I’ve not made before, so there’s a fun learning element for me. Each recipe is also categorized by difficulty level (although even the “hard” recipes will be easy enough for someone with experience in a home kitchen) and time to prepare (always under 1 hour).

Each delivery comes with recipes for the ingredients selected. The recipes are also available online any time. Ingredients are clearly labeled and bundled by recipe, so it’s easy to tell which items go with which meal. Everything arrived packed in an insulated box with ice packs; I’ve never had any issues with the temperature, even when it gets delivered early in the day and I don’t retrieve the box until later.

Each “plate” is one serving of a recipe; they’re sold in pairs, so each order makes enough for two people. Here’s roughly what a portion looks like:

And the recipe for it . . . pretty similar looking!

If reading this makes you want to try Plated, please use my referral link here to sign up. I get two free plates–which is one entire tasty dinner for me and my husband–for anyone I refer to the service. Also, because I’ve bought so much Plated, I have a limited number of referrals I can make who will receive an order of six plates for free! Please let me know in the comments if you’d like one, and I can add your name and email address.

I was not asked to write this review nor was I compensated for it. I’ve either paid for all of my own Plated deliveries or been given gift certificates from family members.

  1. If you have any email referrals left, I’d love one! Found your blog while I was googling reviews on plated. Thanks for the photos of the meals. They look good!
