I’ve written before about how listening to music helped me get better at running when I first started. I was able to distract myself from discomfort with the music as well as motivate myself to keep running a bit longer than I thought I should–just to the end of this song, just to the end of this playlist.
Well, it turns out I’m not so weird. There’s now research that shows listening to music you like can motivate you to work harder during a high-intensity workout . . . without feeling additional effort or pain.
So in the service of helping others reap the benefits of running with music, here are a few of my favorites from my current running playlist. I’d love to hear what some of yours are in the comments so I can expand my list!
